Hi everyone! I wanted to let you know about some upcoming changes to our guidelines for collections and collectible items published on Sticky. Back when we started Sticky, we thought making item creation as easy as possible was the best way to create a vibrant community. As long as the items didn’t have prohibited content such as pornography, anyone could create and publish on Sticky. And of course people put varying degrees of effort into their collections, with some creators publishing really original art they had created themselves, while others pumped out lots of collections made with AI, and some just created collections with a couple of placeholder images to test. As a result, over time the search and marketplace has got a bit crowded and its hard to find the collections that have usefulness (for example connection with a Club or Game) and more active trading. So, for a while now, collection and item creation has required a Pro subscription, and we will soon go over the existing collections and adjust the visibility (for example making some of the collections only visible on user profiles rather than in search and on the main pages). For the foreseeable future, to be approved to trade on Sticky, we strongly prefer collections to have a ‘purpose’, such as being connected with a Game or Club/Community or some kind of project (whether on Sticky or somewhere else) or if they are pure art/collectibles, to have a reason why they are special or will trade actively. We don’t believe in rules like ‘No AI Art’’- something can be made using AI and be very creative and relevant - so we are not doing that. But a collection of typical AI images from something like Midjourney or Dalle with no project behind it, no marketing, no connection to any game, community, etc. doesn’t make that much sense to many members of the community. So please make sure that if you want to publish a collection on Sticky, you make clear in the description why it is special, link to the project’s website and social media, get in touch if you want to connect it to a Game or Club, etc. If you think a specific collection shouldn’t have had its visibility reduced because it meets these guidelines, feel free to reach out in the Club chat or to me directly. Over time, as we manage to improve the algorithms that do things like prioritize search results and check for copyright violations automatically, we hope to be able to relax this again and let more test/just-for-fun items be created and published without harming the user experience. As always, we’re building Sticky together, so would love to hear your thoughts.

Users who were already with us then had their balance and items transferred from the old to the new ledger. Given that auditing transactions on the old ledger is cumbersome, in the near future it will be necessary to expire the coins received by creators prior to the upgrade date (though to be clear, Sticky Coins that are purchased by users don’t expire) to prevent issues with payments. I am reaching out individually to the small number of creators who could be affected. If you have earnings that predate the upgrade, please spend them or request your payment or get in touch. As always, we’re building this together, and happy to discuss. I personally think that to prevent issues, the ideal would be for us to have a rule that earned coins expire if the creator has been inactive (i.e. no subscription, hasn’t even accessed the app) for over 1 year, to prevent coins building up in the wallets of people who have quit Sticky and becoming an overhang for the active holders of Sticky Coin. Again, purchased Sticky Coins would not expire. Another possibility that someone suggested is an inactivity fee of a certain amount of coins each month in these cases, but I’m not such a fan of that. Anyway, these are the kind of things that we’d like to start discussing and voting with the community, rather than being a one-way decision. We are designing a poll feature, but there are a lot of other priorities we are working on. Any suggestions? Maybe we should try and use the up/down-vote features of the posts for this?
